Local subtitle burn

One conversation, complete workflow

From local video to finished subtitles

The agent coordinates SRTGen’s localization tools while keeping you in control of local commands and final output.

Generate subtitles

Turn a local video, audio file, or public media URL into an editable subtitle project.

Translate timed captions

Create additional language tracks while preserving the original subtitle timing.

Control readability

Set word and character limits, punctuation, speech-gap behavior, and sentence splitting.

Use your style presets

Choose built-in or saved presets, then customize typography, color, position, and karaoke.

Export the right format

Ask for SRT, VTT, ASS, TXT, or JSON and receive a file ready for your next tool.

Create a subtitled video

Prepare a watermark-free local render, or use cloud rendering when local tools are unavailable.

Built-in visual workspace

Fine-tune anything manually.

Your agent gets you to a finished draft fast. When a caption needs a human touch, open the project in SRTGen to edit the words, adjust timing, switch style presets, and preview every change.

  • Edit caption text and line breaks
  • Adjust timing on the visual timeline
  • Apply built-in or saved style presets

How it works

Set it up once. Then just ask.

STEP 01

Connect SRTGen

Add https://www.srtgen.com/api/mcp as a remote MCP server, then sign in or use your SRTGen API key.
STEP 02

Give your agent a prompt

Include the local file path and the outcome you want. Your agent plans the correct upload, transcription, translation, style, and export steps.
STEP 03

Review the result

Open the generated SRTGen project, download subtitle files, or inspect the locally burned, watermark-free video.

Large video support

Move the audio, not the 2 GB video

For videos over 200 MB, a locally capable agent uses FFmpeg to extract a 192 kbps MP3. Only the audio goes to SRTGen for transcription. The original video remains on your machine and is reused for the final render.

  • Resumable upload fallback when local commands are unavailable
  • Original video stays local in the recommended workflow
  • Styled ASS export for precise, stable subtitle rendering
  • Local burn uses the same static subtitle rendering path—without a watermark

API-key authentication

Connect with an SRTGen API key stored securely in your agent’s credential settings. Never place it in a prompt or shared file.

Actionable errors

Agents receive clear responses for missing accounts, invalid credentials, insufficient credits, invalid projects, and unsupported actions.

Local, watermark-free burn

The recommended burn happens on your computer with FFmpeg. SRTGen supplies the styled subtitle asset and exact command arguments.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI agents work with SRTGen?+

SRTGen uses the open Model Context Protocol (MCP). It works with MCP-compatible clients that support remote HTTP servers and authentication, including compatible versions of Claude and Codex.

Is AI agent localization available on the free plan?+

No. Connecting SRTGen to an AI agent requires an active Starter, Pro, or Business subscription. Usage-based processing still consumes the credits included with the selected plan.

Can an agent process a video larger than 200 MB?+

Yes. When the agent can run local commands, SRTGen tells it to extract a compact MP3 with FFmpeg and upload only that audio for transcription. The original video stays on your computer for the final burn.

Can I control punctuation and subtitle line length?+

Yes. Agent tools expose project settings such as punctuation display and maximum words per line, as well as language, export format, and burn style choices.

What happens if the request cannot be completed?+

The agent receives structured, actionable errors for invalid authentication, missing users or projects, insufficient credits, unsupported requests, expired uploads, and processing failures.
